Laborers sign pipeline agreement

On September 15th, Robert Jones, Vice President for TransCanada Keystone Pipelines, signed a project labor agreement to build a pipeline from Hardesty, Alberta to near the Kansas border.  The construction of this pipeline is expected to start next spring 2011.  Local Union 620 and Local Union 1140 will see significant work on this project.  On September 15th and 16th,  LIUNA Vice President and Midwest Regional Manager John Penn met with Robert Jones.  They held a press conference on the 16th to announce the project labor agreement.  The press conference was held at the Local Union 1140 Training Fund site.  This site has trained over 100 pipeline hands in the last couple of years.
