Great Plains Laborers District Council LiUNA local union members celebrated Labor Day Parades and picnics in their home towns. Here's some images and links to new stories about their efforts. Union members marched, threw candy, supported labor-friendly politicians and enjoyed the friendship and solidarity of each other's company.
In Marseilles, a pre-Labor Day concert featured Chicago's Bucky Halker, who sang labor songs and told labor stories. A surprise appearance by famed labor organizer Mary "Mother" Jones (aptly played by Local 393's June Wilcoxen), brought another level of enjoyment to the event. Click on the "Photo Gallery" on the black bar at the top of this page, and then on the "photo gallery" page click on "Parades & Celebrations" to see pictures of June and numerous other Labor Day activities throughout the Great Plains Laborers District Council.
